Hey folks. Welcome back to another Story Stream. Jim Curtin’s weakened side is in Columbus, Ohio tonight taking on Columbus Crew SC. UnionFanTV will provide live updates, commentary and more from Mapfre Stadium.

6:00 —

Welcome back, Captain.

Alejandro Bedoya returns to the fold tonight after welcoming the birth of his daughter, Milena. Bedoya will wear the captain’s armband for Curtin’s team in Columbus.

Union will look to make up for lost ground.

After an uninspiring loss in Montréal, Curtin’s side will look to rebound with a result in Columbus. It’s the second match in three days for the Union, as well as the first installment in a home-and-home series with Columbus.

Points are desperately needed, if the Union are to mount any pressure on Columbus, including the other clubs currently ahead of them in Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference table. Here’s how the table currently stands.

Tonight’s Starting (Crew) XI

Sorry, we had to. Here’s the XI Curtin has elected to go with.

XI

It’s, uh, something. Curtin was forced to look toward his bench, with several injuries and suspensions within the team. Thus, youngsters Adam Najem and Marcus Epps both got the nod to make their first career starts in MLS.

Joshua Yaro returns to the XI, and the young, Ghanaian center back will play ahead of Oguchi Onyewu, who is on the bench this evening.

Injuries / Suspensions / International Duties

Roland Alberg was suspended by the league’s Disciplinary Committee, after a “serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent” in the match against Montréal on Wednesday.

Fafa Picault pulled up lame in the match versus Montréal at Stade Saputo. A tweak to his hamstring kept him out of the XI and off the bench for the vital match in Columbus.

Derrick Jones has yet to return from a concussion he picked up in a friendly versus Premier League outfit, Swansea City AFC.

Fabian Herbers is out 6-7 weeks, after the German midfielder successfully underwent surgery for a nagging sports hernia injury.

Chris Pontius is still away with the United States Mens’ National Team, while Andre Blake is with Jamaica.

You can catch Pontius and the USMNT tonight at 10:00 PM ET, when they take on Costa Rica at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Blake and the Reggae Boyz return to Gold Cup play on Sunday, when the Jamaicans take on Mexico at 9:00 PM ET atthe Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.

Maurice Edu is a full participant with the team in training, but has yet to return to the fray.

CJ Sapong though. There’s no word on the whereabouts of the Union’s team-leading goal scorer. We’ll keep you posted.
